Scripture Memory

I am joining up with Beth Moore and her Siesta Scripture Memory team this year!  24 verses in 12 months.  2 verses a month.  1 verse every two weeks.  If I can do it, you can do it!  Will you join me?  I whole heartedly believe that there is hardly anything more important than memorizing God's holy word.  It can then be used as armor, as weapon, as shield, a lamp unto our feet, a light unto our path (now if only I could remember where that came from ;-))

I will use this page as my journal, to keep track of my verses, and they will all link to a post that will explain why I have chosen that particular verse!  So let's get started...

Isaiah 61:3 (New King James)
 3 To console those who mourn in Zion,
      To give them beauty for ashes,
      The oil of joy for mourning,
      The garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness;
      That they may be called trees of righteousness,
      The planting of the LORD, that He may be glorified.”

It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. 5 It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. 6 Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. 7 It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.

Hebrews 12:1-2 (NIV)
 1 Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, 2 fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. For the joy set before him he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.
